Instead of using a suspension of wood byproducts in a binder, wood putty is made with plastic-based and oil-based compounds including boiled linseed oil, calcium carbonate, and universal colorants. Photo: Wood putty consists of plastic-based and oil-based compounds that remain pliable for several hours. Filler can crack as it shrinks and expands in response to significant temperature changes. Since it hardens and does not remain flexible, wood filler is an option for repairing damaged interior walls but not a good choice for exterior repairs. Once the wood filler is applied it will dry and harden within just a few minutes. There are also kinds of liquid wood filler products that fill narrow cracks and slivers by soaking into the wood fibers and binding with them in order to repair the damage. The formula allows it to take a soft and pliable form that’s relatively easy to apply. Wood filler is made up of a hardening resin solution that contains a suspension of wood byproducts. The differences between wood putty and wood filler begin with the composition of each product. Wood filler is made of wood byproducts suspended in a binder that fully hardens in minutes. Keep reading to learn more about the differences between wood putty and wood filler, as well as when to use each product. Meanwhile, a stainable wood filler is not suitable for fixing exterior damage because filler is prone to shrinking and expanding with changing temperatures. Putty should only be used on finished or stained surfaces because the chemicals that are part of its composition can be harmful to exposed wood. wood filler, it’s important to know which situations are better suited for putty and when a filler is an ideal option.īoth wood putty and wood filler do the job of a wood hole filler, but there are limitations to both. The Lights Out Philly initiative works with building owners to turn off lights during peak migration hours when they pose the greatest threat to birds. Through Bird Safe Philly, volunteers monitor routes throughout Center City Philadelphia during the spring and fall migration seasons, documenting and rescuing dead and injured birds and bringing attention to particularly problematic areas. The partnership is designed to help protect native birds in the Philadelphia area from a variety of issues that can harm birds in urban areas, especially issues that can cause birds to collide with buildings and other human made structures. Bird Safe Philly is a partnership led by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, Audubon Mid-Atlantic, Delaware Valley Ornithological Club, National Audubon Society, Valley Forge Audubon Society, and Wyncote Audubon Society. This particular incident served as a catalyst in the formation of the joint Bird Safe Philly and Lights Out Philly initiatives. The tendency of many bird species to migrate at night makes them incredibly susceptible to fatal collisions with glass buildings in heavily built-up, urban environments. Birds cannot perceive transparent glass and are often confused and disoriented by reflections and windows lit from within at night. Many birds collide with buildings each night throughout migration, however conditions on this particular night led to extraordinarily high numbers of fatalities. Sindlinger - a 17 year old Philadelphian with a passion for nature - intends for the installation to elegantly memorialize the mass bird collision event that took place on October 2, 2020, when an estimated 1,500 birds died after colliding with glass buildings in Philadelphia on a single night. The exhibit, designed and installed by Victoria Sindlinger, is titled 'Hope in the Night' and consists of 150 origami birds suspended within the Visitor Center lobby. The Discovery Center is proud to host an art installation aimed at raising awareness around the dangers birds face as they migrate through our urban environment. Take your time, bring your friends and family and relax in nature- all with out leaving Philadelphia! Discover native plants in our pollinator garden and learn about fresh water mussels on our water walk. Stop by our Visitor Center to borrow a pair of binoculars, chat with staff about the birds of the Strawberry Mansion reservoir, and use the restroom before you head out to discover yourself in nature while walking our out and back trail partway around the reservoir. The Discovery Center is free and open 6 days a week. The Discovery Center provides a public space for neighbors, Philadelphia Outward Bound School, and Audubon Mid-Atlantic to come together and co-create opportunities for Philadelphians to discover themselves in nature, practice leadership, and work toward a greener city for birds and people. Their missions converge in the East Park section of Philadelphia's Fairmount Park - just blocks from the neighborhood of Strawberry Mansion - where a century-old abandoned reservoir has become a unique wildlife sanctuary and an important stopover location for birds migrating along the Atlantic Flyway. The National Audubon Society and the Philadelphia Outward Bound School joined forces to save and sustain a vital part of our natural heritage in a unique partnership. Though its lyrics are often more direct than Laika's, Pram also tends to favor sonics over sense. (Maybe it isn't - but a subsequent song, "My Father the Clown," is definitely a sea chantey.) "The things that are left on the pavement/ Mean that you're never alone," sings Rosie (who doesn't use a last name) in "Things Left on the Pavement," a song in which her eccentric yelps duel with what sounds like a penny whistle. Most of "Helium" is too percussive and too alienated for that, though. Like such "trip-hop" outfits as Portishead, Pram frequently employs sauntering rhythms that suggests cocktail lounge music - if its weird clangings and burblings were replaced by a smooth string arrangement, "Nightwatch" could almost be a '50s ballad. ("Sargasso Sea" is due next month.) This disc opens with the sprightly "Gravity," a song whose Stereolab-style keyboard propulsion is a somewhat misleading introduction to the swooshing, whistling and tinkling noises to follow. The whooshes of Moog and other pre-digital synthesizers are another Too Pure trademark, and they feature prominently on "Helium" (Too Pure/American), the first of two albums by Pram that American will release this year. (To hear a free Sound Bite from this album, call 20 and press 8155.) Pram Indeed, that's probably why Harvey is the label's most prominent artist: She makes an emotional connection that's at least as powerful as her sound. These problems are an unwelcome side effect of Laika's fixation on sound over vision, a trait that renders most Too Pure bands less urgent than their most potent beats. The lyrics to songs such as "Sugar Daddy" and "Let Me Sleep" are fragmentary, while the portrait of urban violence in "44 Robbers" is so cartoonish that it actually mentions Popeye and Bluto. (A debt to such groups unites virtually all Too Pure bands.) "Moon" emphasizes mood and groove over lyrics Fiedler and Fixsen might as well be singing in German. The band is named for a dog the Soviets sent into space, but Laika is actually more indebted to the musical space program advanced by '70s German bands such as Can and Faust. Such tracks as "Spider Happy Hour," in their quieter moments, resemble insipid pseudo-Brazilian jazz, but flute and saxophone player Louise Elliott gives the band more than the same old flute samples, while dirty guitar - that old standby - enlivens such tracks as "Honey in Heat." The polyrhythmic density suggests African and Indonesian music. Laika mixes things up interestingly, however, notably by driving such tracks as "Marimba Song" with a combination of live and machine-generated percussion. (Drummer Rob Ellis was formerly in PJ Harvey's band.) Laika's debut album, "Silver Apples of the Moon" (Too Pure/American), was released almost a year ago in Britain, but its mix of hip-hop, slinky jazz and space rock still sounds fresh.Īural collage has become almost routine in British pop, and often this musical complexity is simple-minded in execution. Two of the band's seven members, Margaret Fiedler and John Frenett, used to play in that band, while a third, Guy Fixsen, was Moonshake's producer. The first of Too Pure's second-generation acts, Laika is an offshoot of Moonshake. label, American - home of Slayer's death metal and the Black Crowes' refried boogie-rock - to distribute its music, which the Village Voice recently proclaimed is going "where no band has gone before." Laika But she's not typical of the band's stable, which tends toward the eclectic and spacey. This is best described by their Unique Style (Psycho Rhythm Mission) as they explain "for this music I will go crazy, Psycho Rhythm Mission baby!" What you will find in the group MyFolk is mostly high energetic yet deep and meaningful lyrics that occasionally bring comedy into the picture.Of the acts signed to the small but influential British label Too Pure, the best-known in the United States is PJ Harvey. MyFolk also has a not afraid to lose attitude as some of their songs reach outside of the box of classic hip hop. MyFolk has it's own sound and is very versatile being that every member has solo projects in their history they all bring something different to the table. Since Field Boi were on every song, and are brother like friend, the group leader Kalico just added them to the group. With Field Boi-(Demetrious Martin) being a close friend of the two naturally they became a part of the movement by featuring on nearly every track MyFolk would make later on. When everyone at the studio liked their songs they asked what is your group's name and quickly Kalico said MyFolk (one word). MyFolk has been together for about 3 years when original members Kalico-(Kleif Bussey) and Candyman-(Marc Ross), first cousins, got to together for three songs. The group MyFolk Is a Dirty South hip hop group that consist of Three members (Kalico Kuavo, Candyman, Field Boi.). The badblock command writes the disk full with a pattern, then reads the blocks again to see if the pattern is actually there, and will repeat this with 4 different patterns. If you decide you want to test these disks I would recommend running a badblocks scan and an extended SMART test on the brand new hard disk. I do not test every new disk I buy, only on 'refurbished' disks, which I do not completely trust. So I decided I would now test the new replacement before putting it in production. After sending in a failed disk, the replacement disk failed in my NAS after 3 days. The program measures operation time.I had the same question 2 months ago. Test ends in the middle of the testing area. The first block in the first pair will be Block 0, the second block in the first pair will be Block N (where N is number of last block for testing).

In this post, we’ll discuss three different methods. Thankfully the magic of DLNA means that we can still use the available resources to cast and mirror content to the Mi TV 4. Xiaomi’s new Mi TV 4 lacks the Chromecast built-in support. While Miracast is a great casting service, it lacks the freedom that the Chromecast built-in service gives. Secondly, it lacks the Chromecast built-in support and instead features Miracast. For one, the new Mi smart TV doesn’t have an app store. Though Xiaomi’s new TV looks great for the price, it lacks a few essential features. Take, for example, the case of the new Mi TV 4. While some makers have pushed top-of-the-line premium features at insane prices, others have included only a few necessary features in their line-up while maintaining an affordable price bracket.Įven though the second option is usually great for consumers, it often means that the users also end up missing a few features, sometimes a few important ones. If you look at it, the very core idea of a Smart TV differs from one manufacturer to another. Note that while Android has supported screen mirroring since version 5.0 Lollipop, some phones are better optimized to use it than others. Screen mirroring, however, is good for apps without a Cast button. Other alternatives to mirror your screen: Share using Chromecast. This however is not going to mirror your screen, it will only play and control the individual content from your LG TV. Some apps such as Youtube, Netflix and Hulu already have built-in functionalities to help you cast videos and content from your iPhone to any LG TV.
